  16. APPLICATION COMPONENTS FOR QUICKBASE

  18. Washington, New Hampshire, May 24, 1994, SofDesign Corporation
  19. announces its Application Components program to help software
  20. developers market products based on the QuickBase database server.
  21.  
  22. The problem is that many independent software developers for
  23. NEXTSTEP provide excellent shrinkwrap applications, but to a
  24. market that is looking primarily for custom solutions.  The goal
  25. of the program is to help developers turn their products into
  26. extendable add-in modules that can be incorporated into mission
  27. critical solutions.  QuickBase provides a common storage and
  28. multi-user locking mechanism so that applications can safely share
  29. information on multi-user systems.  SofDesign offers huge run-time
  30. discounts to make this possible for small vendors.

  32. Dirk Fromhein from Watershed Technologies, Inc. says, "This is a
  33. great opportunity to explore interoperability between
  34. applications.  QuickBase customers will soon be able to use
  35. GraphRight to graph and analyse database information."  Fromhein
  36. also commented, "I highly recommend QuickBase.  It is more cost
  37. effective than competing products and I have found it very easy to
  38. set up and use -- if you have ever installed Sybase or Oracle you
  39. understand why this is such a big plus!.  We are in the process of
  40. moving all of our customer data to QuickBase."

  42. Sirius Solutions, maker of CheckSum accounting software will also
  43. take part in the program.  Andreas Glocker, representing Sirius
  44. Solutions, says "We are creating a professional version of
  45. CheckSum using QuickBase that will provide NEXTSTEP customers with
  46. an add-in accounting module for mission critical software or a
  47. stand-alone accounting system.  SofDesign's Application Components
  48. program will provide coordination so that other vendors can
  49. interface their packaged software with CheckSum Pro." Sirius
  50. Solutions will be demonstrating CheckSum Pro running on QuickBase
  51. at the NEXTSTEP EXPO.

  53. Software developers who are currently not participating in the
  54. Application Components program are encouraged to join.  SofDesign
  55. provides support at no charge to help developers port their
  56. applications to QuickBase.
